It means it&#8217;s getting cheap fast. PLoS journals charge $1400+ for each article, PeerJ is charging $99 <\/p>\n<p>Will OA, top tier journals like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elifesciences.org\/\">eLife<\/a> become the go-to place for top papers, over traditional, closed journals? There is a lot of inertia to overcome, but once authors recognize that another journal is just as prestigious, the switch can happen relatively quickly.  <\/p>\n<p>Just ask Neuron about Nature Neuroscience some time, they&#8217;ll tell you how fast the tables can turn.<\/p>\n<p>On second thought&#8230; forget that.
