\nNeural representations of movement in the primary motor cortex
\nA postdoctoral research assistant position is available for a highly motivated research scientist to investigate the cellular and circuit mechanisms underpinning cortical motor control of skilled movements. The position is available for 3 years in the laboratory of Dr Ian Duguid in the Centre for Integrative Physiology, University of Edinburgh, UK (www.DuguidLab.com<\/a>).
\nOur research focuses on unravelling the complex cellular and circuit mechanisms underpinning simple and skilled motor behaviours. By combining bespoke behavioural paradigms with in vivo 2-photon imaging, patch-clamp electrophysiology and viral-based manipulation techniques, the project aims to investigate the cellular and circuit mechanisms underpinning population level representations of movement in the primary motor cortex of awake behaving mice.
\nThe successful candidate will have a PhD in Neuroscience or related subject and extensive research experience in in vivo 2-photon imaging and\/or electrophysiology, microneurosurgery, quantitative behaviour and optogenetics. The ability to code in C++, Python or MatLab and a proven track record in designing\/leading in vivo research projects is essential.
