The position is available for 3 years in the laboratory of Dr Ian Duguid in the Centre for Integrative Physiology, University of Edinburgh, UK (www.DuguidLab.com).
Our research focuses on unravelling the complex cellular and circuit mechanisms underpinning simple and skilled motor behaviours. By combining bespoke behavioural paradigms with in vivo 2-photon imaging, patch-clamp electrophysiology and viral-based manipulation techniques, the project aims to investigate the cellular and circuit mechanisms underpinning population level representations of movement in the primary motor cortex of awake behaving mice.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Neuroscience or related subject and extensive research experience in in vivo 2-photon imaging and/or electrophysiology, microneurosurgery, quantitative behaviour and optogenetics. The ability to code in C++, Python or MatLab and a proven track record in designing/leading in vivo research projects is essential.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr Ian Duguid (Ian.Duguid@ed.ac.uk).
This post is available on a fixed term basis, with a working pattern of 35 hours per week for 3 years.
Ref: 036140 Closing Date: 23 June 2016
For further particulars and to submit an application visit our website: https://www.vacancies.ed.ac.uk/pls/corehrrecruit/erq_jobspec_version_4.jobspec?p_id=036140

A world-class in vivo patch clamp electrophysiologist, Ian Duguid, is recruiting to his lab.
