Ignotum Per Ignotius n. An explanation which is even more obscure than the thing it purports to explain. Literally, “the unknown by the more unknown.” Can be unintended or intended.

The International Space Station in front of the moon
Thierry Legault is the crème de la crème in astrophotography of man-made objects backlit by the sun and moon. He took the photo at the top of this post. His game is figuring out where to be and when, setting up, and then taking photos at a rate of about 3 shots per second. Many of his windows of opportunity are as little as 0.5 seconds. (link)
