Post-publication peer review on PubMed Commons

pc

PubMed has a new feature: you can comment on the papers using PubMed Commons.

PubPeer, the now-defunct Third Reviewer, reference managers, and journals have offered post-publication peer review for a while now. And although PubPeer has browser plug-ins for viewing comments in PubMed, this new endeavor is native to PubMed.

PubPeer remains the place for anonymous commenting.

Instead, PubMed Commons will allow anonymity by proxy, through group comments. So you either have to identify yourself, or have someone who identifies themselves to vouch for you. Journal editors remain concerned about Claire Francis and similar anonymous tipsters with unreliable records for correctly identifying fraud.
