Intersectional strategies: CRE-DOG
Posted in Uncategorized
Intersectional strategies are rapidly growing in sophistication. Unfortunately, it still takes time to generate mice and make crosses as needed, so short cuts are handy.
The CRE-DOG technique, from Connie Cepko’s lab, induces expression in cells that are already expressing GFP. No Cre needed. If you have a fusion protein line or a BAC transgenic or something similar, you can combine it with this approach to introduce a transgene to GFP-expressing cells.
I asked Connie about potential crosstalk…
we looked into reactivity with gfp derivatives, yfp and cfp. it does recognize those, as expected. for tdtomato and other coral red derivatives, it does not. not sure about gcamp.
