I plant seeds

In May 2022, I asked for an “LLM to automatically write code to port arbitrary data sets to NWB format”.

Today, I see this job ad from the Allen Institute, where the job is “to develop tools that use Large Language Models (LLMs) to support our metadata tracking and analysis. We track detailed metadata that is essential to interpreting and analyzing data. These are crucial to make our data findable and reusable, important pillars of Open Science. We are eager to develop tools that can aid in generating accurate metadata during data acquisition and/or can summarize the extensive metadata to create an accurate narrative of how the data was collected (e.g. write the methods section for a paper). This postbac will work with both software engineers and scientists to help achieve these goals, gaining valuable experience with LLMs and prompt engineering and learning about the scientific work that this effort will support.”

Beautiful. I’m looking forward to the products!

(in case it’s unclear, I’m not seriously taking credit… zero credit)
