Sensapex piezo manipulators… update

Labrigger covered Sensapex’s tiny manipulators in the past. Since then, Sensapex has broadened their offerings a bit.

They now have several different movements available for changing pipettes: sliding, tilting, turning, and combinations thereof.

Sensapex’s manipulators web page has some videos showing how they operate.

They don’t bear a lot of weight, so the manipulators are typically set up to just hold the pipette, separate from the headstage. However, they do have a non-standard, high-load option for mounting an entire headstage on the manipulator.

At the SfN meeting in San Diego, they’re presenting their new, “sub-nanometer range” positioning resolution.
